Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 1/23/2026
Welcome to CaseLens ("CaseLens", "we", "us", or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our website and services (the "Service"). Our core principle is privacy by design; your documents are yours and yours alone.
1. Our Privacy Promise: Your Documents Are Not Our Data
The most critical aspect of our Service is the analysis of legal documents. We have engineered CaseLens with a "privacy-first" architecture:
- Client-Side Processing: The content of any document you upload is processed exclusively within your web browser on your own device.
- No Server Upload: Your document's text and content are never uploaded to, stored on, or processed by our servers. We never have access to the contents of your documents.
- Optional Report Saving: You may choose to save your analysis results (not your original document) to your account. This is an opt-in feature that stores your analysis overview, observations, framing analysis, and clarification questions in your personal report history. You can delete saved reports at any time.
- Ephemeral Analysis: If you do not save your report, all analysis occurs in your browser's memory. When you close your browser tab or end your session, the document content and analysis results are discarded.
2. Information We Do Collect
To provide and manage your account, we collect the following information:
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. This information is used for account creation, authentication, and communication.
- Usage Metadata: We store metadata about your use of the service. This includes the fact that an analysis was performed (e.g., file name, date, credits used), but not the content of the document itself. We also track credit transactions.
- User Profile Information: We store your user profile, which includes your display name, email, and credit balance. This is necessary to operate the service.
- Saved Reports: If you choose to save your analysis results, we store the analysis output (overview, observations, framing analysis, clarification questions, and any enhanced factors you purchase). This data is stored securely in your personal account and can be deleted at any time. We do not store your original document content.
3. How We Use Your Information
The limited information we collect is used to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Process transactions, such as deducting credits for analyses.
- Communicate with you regarding your account or our services.
- Ensure the security and integrity of our Service.
- Comply with legal obligations.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your account information and usage metadata are stored securely using Firebase, a service provided by Google. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data from unauthorized access.
5. Third-Party Services
We use Firebase for authentication and database services. We do not share your personal information with any other third parties for marketing or other purposes. The AI analysis is performed by models from Google (Gemini) or OpenRouter, but your document text is sent directly from your browser to their API, not through our servers.
6. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to access, update, or delete your account information at any time through your profile page. If you choose to delete your account, all associated personal data we store will be permanently removed.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
